About Our Team

Bluegrass Hearing Clinic was established in 1997 and has been providing hearing services and state-of-the-art hearing technology for over 24 years. We serve communities in 11 locations throughout Kentucky.

Bluegrass Hearing Clinic offers hearing solutions as well as other assistive listening devices that are more precise and user-friendly than ever before. We provide noise protection, swimming, and custom wireless earbud solutions, as well as offer device accessories that prevent, protect, and promote better hearing.

At Bluegrass Hearing Clinic, we believe our greatest asset is our patients. Nothing makes us happier than knowing our patients feel “at home” and we have improved their communication abilities and relationships. Our hearing doctors are dedicated to providing the best services and products in a personal, friendly, and comfortable environment. After all, better hearing is better living.

Vanessa Ewert, Au.D., Lic.-A

Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Vanessa Ewert has been with Bluegrass Hearing Clinic since June 2011. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Kentucky in 2008 and her Doctorate of Audiology degree from the University of Cincinnati in 2012. Dr. Ewert completed her externship with Bluegrass Hearing Clinic. She completed research with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) on the use of double hearing protection and noise. Dr. Ewert specializes in Diagnostic Hearing Loss and Tinnitus. She is a past president of the Kentucky Academy of Audiology.

In February 2018, Dr. Vanessa Ewert became the President and Co-Owner of Bluegrass Hearing Clinic, LLC.  She is a resident of Lexington, KY. She sees patients in our Frankfort, Somerset & Lexington locations. Dr. Ewert is affiliated with the following organizations:

Stacey High, Au.D., Lic.-A

Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Stacey High has been with Bluegrass Hearing Clinic since August 2009. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2005 from the University of Kentucky and her Doctorate of Audiology from the University of Louisville in 2009. Dr. High completed her externship at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, CA. She completed research on enlarged vestibular aqueducts and childhood hearing loss. Dr. High specializes in Diagnostic Hearing Loss. She and her family live in Mt. Washington, KY. She sees patients in our Bardstown and Elizabethtown locations. Dr. High is affiliated with the following organizations:

Shelley Heath, Au.D., Lic.-A

Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Shelley Heath joined Bluegrass Hearing Clinic in 2017. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Kentucky in 2013 and her Doctorate of Audiology from the University of Memphis in 2017. While in Memphis, she paired with medically trained interpreters to deliver culturally and linguistically appropriate services to the Spanish speaking population. Dr. Health completed her externship with Bluegrass Hearing Clinic and specializes in Pediatric Diagnostics. Dr. Heath is currently a member at large for the Kentucky Academy of Audiology. She resides in Lexington, KY with her husband. She sees patients in our Mt. Sterling, Elizabethtown, and Richmond locations. Dr. Heath is affiliated with the following organizations:

Lucinda Batta, Au.D., Lic.-A, CCC-A

Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Lucinda Batta joined Bluegrass Hearing Clinic in October of 2016. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences in 2012 from Purdue University. She received her Doctorate of Audiology from Indiana University in 2015, where she received the highest award for academic achievement. Dr. Batta currently is the treasurer of the Kentucky Academy of Audiology. She is originally from Tennessee but now resides in Lexington, KY with her husband and son. Dr. Batta specializes in Adult Cochlear Implant Evaluation and Activation. She sees patients in our Danville, Paris, & Cynthiana locations. Dr. Batta is affiliated with the following organizations:

Mary H. Sohler, Au.D., Lic.-A, CCC-A

Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Mary Sohler joined Bluegrass Hearing Clinic in the summer of 2019. She completed her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Louisville in 2013, with a major in Economics and a minor in Mathematics. She obtained her Doctorate of Audiology from the University of Louisville in 2019. Dr. Sohler completed her externship at Bay Pines VA in St. Petersburg, FL. She completed research on central auditory processing disorders and cognition load, and was chosen to present at the American Academy of Audiology’s National Conference in 2018. Dr. Sohler is originally from Louisville, KY but now lives in Lexington, KY with her husband and two sons. Dr. Sohler specializes in Diagnostic Hearing Loss. She sees patients in our Richmond and Danville locations. Dr. Sohler is affiliated with the following organizations:

Kari Wickstrom, Au.D., Lic.-A

Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Kari Wickstrom joined Bluegrass Hearing Clinic in February 2021. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Kentucky in 2014 and her Doctorate of Audiology from the University of Cincinnati in 2018. Dr. Wickstrom completed her externship with Bluegrass Hearing Clinic in 2018. For her research, she presented on the mitigation of sound to reduce reverberation time in a pre-school setting. Dr. Wickstrom enjoys working with patients that have Tinnitus. She currently resides in Lexington, KY. She sees patients in our Nicholasville and Bardstown locations. Dr. Wickstrom is affiliated with the following orgainizations:

Brittany Hampton, HIS

Hearing Instrument Specialist

Brittany Hampton has been with Bluegrass Hearing Clinic since 2015, first as a Patient Care Coordinator and most recently as a Hearing Instrument Specialist. Brittany obtained her bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky in 2009 and her Hearing Instrument License in 2019. She is a huge UK fan and has a passion for traveling. Brittany resides in Lexington, KY. She sees patients in our Mt. Sterling, Lexington, and Somerset locations. Brittany is affiliated with the following organizations:

  • International Hearing Society

Sherry McCall Lanter

CEO/CFO

Sherry McCall Lanter graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2005 where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in accounting. In 2013, Mrs. Lanter joined Bluegrass Hearing Clinic bringing with her over 25 years of management experience in the healthcare industry. Mrs. Lanter has served on several advisory panels and medical management associations. She is a board member of Rotary Club, a board member of the Paris-Bourbon County Chamber of Commerce, a graduate of Leadership Central Kentucky, and most recently, has been appointed to the National Small Business Administration Leadership Council which is a nationwide council that acts as an advocate for small businesses with local, state, and federal government.

In February 2018, Mrs. Lanter became the CEO/CFO and Co-Owner of Bluegrass Hearing Clinic, LLC.
